A I was born in Belgium in 1599. My father was a shoemaker and my mother died when I was nine years old. After finishing Gymnasium, I wanted to join the Jesuits. My father didn’t agree and tried to do everything to stop me. But I still wanted to be a Jesuit. I was sure that this was my vocation – God’s call for me. I started my studies of philosophy in Belgium but after some weeks I was sent to continue studying in Rome. So I walked all the way to Rome, 1700km on foot. I didn’t stay long in Rome because I left this world at the age of twenty-two after falling sick with dysentery.
Who am I?...
