To live barefoot
autor: Michał Gramacki

Many children in developing countries grow up without shoes. Whatever they do - play soccer or go to school, go to get water or food for themselves and family -  they are always at risk of getting injuries, infections and diseases. Walking is the main way of translocation for them, but without shoes they cannot walk long distances. The most often cause of disease in developed  countries are soil-transmitted parasites. Those worms can enter the body through any part that comes in contact with infected soil. Most often they penetrate the skin of the feet, so wearing shoes is so important and can prevent the risk of amputation. Shoes protect also from cuts and more dangerous sores and if the wounds become infected there is always more trouble with health.
There are many organizations, which help people in need such as the Red Cross or United Nations. They do a lot of good work for them and support pure societies. But the need for help offering people is still huge.
In 2006, an American traveller was spending time in Argentina. He found that children had no shoes and in order to help them, he founded a company  that donates one pair of shoes for every pair of shoes sold in the shop. The Company - TOMS Shoes - since the beginning has given over 400,000 pairs of shoes to children. The movement One for One - You buy shoes - somebody receives shoes also - is gaining more awareness among  people, because everybody can benefit of them. It’s so simple - shoes, but with it we can take a step toward a better world.
