Between January and February there is a festive season called carnival, when people celebrate the special time before Lent. Traditionally, the carnival is held between Epiphany, the 6th of January, and the Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent. The carnival is a time of dance, show and fun, and as you certainly know, one of the best-known celebrations is held in Brazil. People tend to dance samba all days and walk with joyful rhythms along the streets of Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities.
The carnival is also celebrated around the world. In Europe, the carnival in Venice is known as the most colourful and prestigious one. In Poland, balls are arranged, which are really popular among all people regardless of age.
The time of carnival means for many of us passing from traditional behaviour to another dimension, because potentially we can let ourselves for something more. Some people even wait for those days all the year. We think the different reality allows to change our attitude, while we should know that carnival is for people, but at the same time we should remember who we are. Obviously, it is not a principle for all of us, but this time is short and far more important is the perspective of the whole year. The carnival is not an essence of life, it cannot give a meaning, but just a little taste of life. Sometimes the memories of pompous shows are able to sweeten our existence shortly, but they never give us the strength and force for living. If something is given for us, we can use it, but wisely. Have a good fun!
